The bathroom walls have tiles and a pretty silver/grey grout.  The floors from both bathrooms haven’t been tiled yet but that’s a post for another day.

The men worked on the kitchen and dining room floor too.

Soon we have to decide what kind of flooring we want for the second floor bedrooms and hallway. The adults like the darker cherry but the kids both insist on the lighter beech wood.  Good thing we have a bit of time to decide.

It’s great to see life in the house again after such a long time of watching the floors dry.  It’s pretty exciting to think that starting next week I’ll be in the house daily painting and tiling myself.

The walls in the bathroom are really starting to take shape…

…is over.
The floor fill is dry. The tile guy is tiling, the drywall guy is drywalling, and the construction supervisor is supervising.
More pictures to come tomorrow.

The special steel plates that have been protecting our neighbor’s driveway from the weight of the trucks that have driven to our lot since we bagan building were finally removed 5 weeks ago.  Since then we’ve been thinking about what driveway stones we should have to have in front of our house.

During the Christmas break we drove to 2 flagstone companies to look at the bricks, or stones, they had to offer.  Unfortunately, one of the companies was closed for renovations but the second one wasn’t and we were able to pick some we liked.

We originally wanted a red driveway but are tending to a different color now, as you can see.  Can you guess which one we liked the best?

We’ve been opening up the house for 2 weeks now and the humidity has gone down from over 90% to 75%. It’s not a sauna anymore in there, it’s more like a green house at the Botanical Gardens.

Martin and Alexander went out to the house at least twice daily within these last 2 weeks. Every time the windows were opened within minutes the temperature and the humidity dropped to half of what they were originally. While Martin opened the doors and windows on all 3 floors Alexander climbed the scaffolding to keep an eye on things.

Some days the windows and ceilings were almost dry and then on other days there was so much condense water that the boys took towels to dry them off and to try to get as much moisture out as possible. This is what it looks like when we don’t have anything to do and Martin can take pictures of the inside walls as they dry.
